Maria Davison

Maria is the one behind the crazy ideas when born and the drive behind actually making these dreams reality. 

The Chesterfield Carnival Weekender is voluntary run by this 'lass from down the road' and obviously with her passionately deluded character she decided to fit a VIP event in the middle! 

A full time nurse, mother, partner, mate, lead of a whole host of other projects and missions, daughter and sister amongst everything else Maria tirelessly strives to make a difference to others. Starting the Chesterfield Carnival 2014 began with the sentence her loved ones dread.......

"oooh I have got an idea!"

And my how little acorns grow! "Lets hold a gala and make a difference, yes we need something that will have a knock on benefit to the area......" and so the initial plan for a gala was born.

The reply given when asked how many people were expected to attend this gala was one that Maria admitted left her concerned she may need to source some extra mates! "About 200 is the aim!"

In the same percieved chaotic manner of a whirlwind the gala plans started with little time ahead. Every barrier met by Maria seemed to feed the event and her loved ones and the rest of the town witnessed her determination as she met every sceptic, every barrier and every doubt with her view that everybody has the ability to make a difference and too her often random ways in which she managed to find it!

The gala turned carnival and despite having no budget and no organisational skills visible to the naked eye she recalls;

       "They said we couldnt do it, they said it wouldnt happen, they said it wasnt possible. Well they should have listened because 2014 saw over 10000 people unite as one shouting loud and proud, This is our area and we are what make it. Our community joined forces and shared their super powers as a community what can, and did!" 

       "Thats nothing, this year we are going to raise the roof and reach for the stars" (Maria)

And so the Carnival Weekender with VIP event of an evening with the stars in another world is due to hit Chesterfield on the 18th and 19th July!

As the event nears and chaos reigns some may find it difficult to believe but it is true.......she has had another idea!
